Delhi Metro Starts Construction on Lajpat NagarSaket G Block Golden Line Stretch

The 8.385-km elevated link will create new interchange capacity, turning Lajpat Nagar into a three-line hub.

Overview

  • DMRC held a ground-breaking and first test-pile event on December 12 at Pushpa Bhawan near Saket, attended by Managing Director Vikas Kumar and representatives of RVNL and the contractor.
  • The corridor will be fully elevated with eight stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block.
  • The line will connect with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi and with the Violet and Pink Lines at Lajpat Nagar, establishing a triple interchange at Lajpat Nagar.
  • DMRC says this is the first physical work to begin beyond Phase‑IV priority corridors, while the InderlokIndraprastha and RithalaNarela lines remain in tendering or pre-construction.
  • Initial activity involves test piling and limited earthwork with traffic approvals to be sought when pillar work begins, and the project is reported to target completion in 2029.
