Overview
- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation closed entry and exit gates at 11 central Delhi stations earlier on Friday while keeping trains running and interchange functions available at major hubs.
- The restrictions targeted street-level access around Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, New Delhi and other central stops because of planned protests at Jantar Mantar and Gandhi Jayanti security movements.
- DMRC kept trains stopping at affected stations but barred boarding and deboarding through the gates, directing commuters to nearby open stations and alternate transport routes.
- Delhi Police imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across New Delhi and briefly detained several protesters and party activists who gathered at Jantar Mantar.
- DMRC announced on X that all station entry and exit gates were reopened on Friday evening, though commuters in central Delhi continued to face ID checks, traffic diversions and heightened security.
