Overview

  • The directive applies to commercial complexes, malls, hotels and institutional buildings with more than five floors and built-up areas exceeding 3,000 square meters
  • Building owners must install at least three smog guns on structures under 10,000 square meters, with one additional unit required for each extra 5,000 square meters beyond 25,000
  • Smog guns must project a mist of 5–20 micron droplets over 75–100 meters and operate in short bursts during peak pollution hours, excluding the monsoon period from June 15 to October 1
  • Only treated water may be used with consumption capped at 1,200 liters per hour and 10,000 liters per day, and installations should integrate air-quality sensors for DPCC to assess effectiveness
  • Residential buildings are exempt and agencies including the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and municipal bodies will enforce compliance with quarterly reporting requirements
