Delhi Man Arrested for Scamming Over 700 Women Using Fake Model Persona

Tushar Bisht, 23, posed as a US-based model on dating apps to extort money and private content from women, police say.

  • Tushar Bisht, a 23-year-old technical recruiter in Noida, was arrested in East Delhi for defrauding over 700 women through dating apps like Bumble and Snapchat.
  • Bisht created fake profiles using a virtual international number and photos of a Brazilian model, targeting women aged 18-30 with fabricated stories about being a US-based freelance model visiting India.
  • He gained victims' trust, persuaded them to share intimate photos or videos, and then blackmailed them by threatening to leak or sell the content online if they did not pay him money.
  • A complaint by a Delhi University student in December 2024 led to a police investigation, which uncovered incriminating evidence, including private content, 13 credit cards, and over 60 WhatsApp chats with victims.
  • Police revealed Bisht had been involved in these activities for years, initially for amusement but later for financial gain, and further investigations are underway to identify additional victims.
