Delhi Maintains Road Closures and Heightens Patrols in Final Phase of Kanwar Yatra

Authorities have logged over 350 complaints about noise or congestion since the weekend, prompting deployment of extra pickets across East Delhi

Overview

  • Key arterial roads in East and Northeast Delhi—including stretches of GT Road, Agra Canal Road, Swami Dayanand Marg and Pusta Road—remain closed to general traffic until 8 AM on July 23
  • Commuters are directed to use alternate corridors such as Road No. 13 via Mathura Road/Faridabad Bypass, underpasses from Seemapuri and Anand Vihar to Road No. 56, and diversions via Vikas Marg, NH-9 and Ring Road
  • Emergency vehicles including ambulances, fire brigades and police units may access restricted zones only when absolutely necessary under traffic police advisories
  • Delhi Police recorded more than 350 calls on noise and traffic snarls over five days, leading to mobile patrols, extra pickets and round-the-clock deployments in East and Southeast districts
  • Additional restrictions bar buses and commercial vehicles on Ring Road segments around Yudhister Setu and Boulevard Road between 9 AM and midnight to smooth pedestrian flows
