Delhi Lt Governor Unaware of Court Approval Requirement for Tree Felling

The Supreme Court is hearing a contempt case against DDA and Delhi government officials over the unauthorized cutting of over 600 trees.
Saxena identified specific DDA officials responsible for the tree felling and stated that departmental and criminal actions have been initiated against them.
The court questioned Saxena about his knowledge of the tree felling during his visit to the site in February and subsequent actions taken.
Saxena clarified that he learned about the requirement for court permission in March, after the trees had already been cut.
