Delhi Logs Wettest August Since 2010 as Monthly Total Tops 400 mm

IMD expects active monsoon conditions over the next five days.

  • Safdarjung, Delhi’s benchmark station, has recorded 400.5 mm for August, surpassing last year’s 390.3 mm and marking the highest since 2010.
  • Since the monsoon set in during late June, Delhi has received over 750 mm of rain, approaching the city’s annual average of 774.4 mm.
  • The IMD has counted 14 rainy days in August so far, with the tally reflecting an unusually wet month.
  • On Friday between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, Safdarjung logged 63.7 mm, Lodhi Road 36.6 mm and Aya Nagar 11.8 mm, according to IMD data.
  • Heavy showers led to waterlogging and traffic delays on multiple major routes in Delhi and in parts of Noida, authorities said.
