Overview

  • An emergency review led by Lt Governor V K Saxena with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Health Minister Pankaj Singh exposed collapsing walls, blocked ambulance access and severe security lapses at MAMC and LNJP Hospital.
  • The MAMC dean reported hostel occupancy exceeding capacity by more than eightfold, forcing six to seven residents into rooms built for two and driving doctors to rest in corridors.
  • Encroachments spanning over 25 acres have transformed hospital land into illegal flats, temples, shops, schools and jhuggi clusters, enabling illicit liquor sales and drug cartel activity.
  • Authorities must prepare cost estimates and plans for at least 4,000 student and doctor accommodations while Delhi Police moves to remove criminal elements from the campus.
  • The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the BJP government of neglecting and undermining Delhi’s previously celebrated public healthcare infrastructure.
