Overview

  • Thirty-four digital NI Act courtrooms from Dwarka, Tis Hazari, Saket, Karkardooma, Rohini and Patiala House have been consolidated at the Rouse Avenue complex.
  • The Coordination Committee had resolved to abstain from judicial work on June 9 in protest over the relocation and uncertainty about physical appearances.
  • Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya confirmed that all NI Act matters will proceed exclusively via electronic filing and virtual hearings.
  • Administrative control, support staff deployment and record-keeping for the digital courts will remain with their original districts to minimise disruption.
  • The move is part of a ₹427 crore project approved in August 2024 to build and modernise the Rouse Avenue court infrastructure and expedite case disposal.
