Overview

  • The Delhi Transport Department will deploy 145 specialized nine-metre DEVI buses on narrow-lane routes in Yamuna Vihar as a last-mile connectivity trial.
  • DEVI buses are designed to navigate areas inaccessible to larger 12-metre DTC and cluster buses and link commuters directly to nearby Metro stations.
  • Dedicated digital bus stops developed with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will feature live displays of routes, locations and arrival times.
  • Following a pilot of Electronic Ticketing Machines across 700 buses that achieved over 95% digital sales, National Common Mobility Cards and ETMs will be rolled out citywide.
  • This trial forms part of Delhi’s EV Policy 2.0 collaborations with IIT Delhi and aims to scale electric bus numbers to 5,000 by December 2025 under a broader electrification push.
