Delhi Launches Van Mahotsav 2025 to Plant Over 7 Million Trees in July

The festival is designed to deepen citizens’ connection to nature through interactive exhibits featuring personalized dedications that bolster Delhi’s air pollution mitigation plan.

Overview

  • The month-long campaign kicks off on July 3 at Bharat Mandapam and will span daily plantation drives across all 70 assembly constituencies.
  • Authorities aim to mobilize Delhi residents to plant over 70 lakh trees under Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
  • A central ‘Van Mela’ will host more than 50 stalls showcasing exotic, ornamental and medicinal plants alongside bio-friendly alternatives to plastic with free sapling distribution.
  • Campaign features interactive kiosks, tree nameplates bearing mothers’ names and storytelling formats to foster community ownership of the green drive.
  • The Forest Department will coordinate with NDMC, MCD, DDA, Delhi Police and other civic bodies on logistics, safety and publicity throughout July.
