  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on June 7 that all Delhi government buildings and sports stadiums will be retrofitted under the Sugamya Delhi Abhiyan to ensure barrier-free access for persons with disabilities.
  • Infrastructure upgrades will include installing ramps, lifts, Braille signage, wheelchair-friendly routes and audio-visual aids in public and institutional spaces.
  • Special Olympics Bharat and the Inclusive Divyangjan Entrepreneur Association (IDEA) are backing the campaign alongside CSR partners and local vendors to develop cost-effective accessibility solutions.
  • The initiative engages all 21 disability categories plus senior citizens through awareness drives and will launch special schemes to promote active participation in sports, education and public services.
  • A ‘Purple Fest’ is planned to celebrate the talents and rights of persons with disabilities and foster a positive public attitude toward inclusion.
