Delhi Launches 'Road RADAR' for Real-Time Roadside Pollution Reporting

Automated routing of geo-tagged complaints aims to speed fixes across agencies.

Overview

  • The DPCC program, launched Friday, deploys 13 district surveyors on GPS-tracked bikes to scan roads each day.
  • Each must scan at least 20 km per day and log 70 geo-tagged issues, targeting 11 problems such as dust, open burning, C&D waste, potholes and overflowing garbage.
  • Reports flow through the MCD-311 app and auto-route to the responsible agency such as MCD, PWD, DDA, DSIIDC, CPWD or Indian Railways for action.
  • A Hindustan Times ride-along showed the system in use, with surveyor Gourav Sonkaria logging 81 issues in one day and sending live location updates to DPCC.
  • Experts backed the effort but said public access to issue logs and action-taken records will be key to judging results and holding departments to account.
