Overview

  • The Public Works Department completed a full redesign of ITO intersection drains with new underground lines, high-capacity pumps and real-time sensor controls to end chronic water-logging.
  • An underground sewage treatment plant at Sadbhawana Park now recycles storm and wastewater for irrigation, saving thousands of litres of potable water daily.
  • Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Minister Parvesh Verma inspected the operational systems on July 8 and affirmed their readiness for the ongoing monsoon.
  • Officials describe the revamped ITO network as a replicable model for permanently preventing flooding and easing traffic disruptions during heavy rains.
  • The Delhi government has pledged to extend these integrated urban water-management measures to other major water-logging hotspots across the capital.
