Delhi Launches District Single-Window Clearance for Ramleela Permissions

The government has also slashed land deposits, expanded event zones and locked in Navratri dates to expedite the staging of nearly 600 annual performances.

Overview

  • A single-window system led by district magistrates will now issue all no-objection certificates for Ramleela at the district level.
  • This year’s Ramleela will run from September 22 to October 2, aligning approvals ahead of the Navratri festival.
  • Land security deposits have been reduced from ₹20 per square metre to ₹15, and permitted entertainment areas expanded from 25% to 40% of site footprints.
  • A dispute-resolution committee including a DDA deputy director and two Delhi Ramleela Federation office-bearers has been formed to address site-level conflicts.
  • Organizers’ calls for one ambulance per venue have been noted by officials, with plans for formal safety measures still under consideration.
