Delhi Launches 7-Kilometre Anti-Smog Misting System in Dwarka

Officials describe the installation as a model for wider rollout across Delhi.

Overview

  • Lt Governor VK Saxena inaugurated the automatic misting network on Friday across Dwarka Sectors 10 to 21.
  • The corridor uses 166 central-verge streetlight poles fitted with 30 high-pressure nozzles each at a height of 5 metres.
  • Nozzles spray RO-treated water at 2.8 litres per hour to help settle dust and reduce fine pollutants, according to the DDA.
  • Three pump houses and an RO plant supply treated water, with TDS reportedly cut from 2000 to 50 and wastewater reused for irrigation.
  • The rollout builds on a November trial of 14 poles over 550 metres, and independent measurements of air-quality impact were not reported.
