Delhi Jal Board Disburses Rs 735 Crore to 68 Seats for Water, Sewer Works

The move shifts funding to local control with real-time tracking to speed delivery.

Overview

  • Officials said Rs 408.95 crore falls under the Capital Head for laying pipelines, replacing old sewer lines, building underground reservoirs and augmenting supply systems.
  • Another Rs 326 crore has been placed under the Revenue Head for maintenance, desilting, repairs and service improvements to boost network reliability.
  • Delhi Cantonment and New Delhi are not included because their water and sewer projects are handled outside the Delhi government’s jurisdiction.
  • The board described this as its largest constituency-level release to date, aimed at equitable, need-based upgrades across the city.
  • The DJB will monitor works through a central PMU with geo-tagging for real-time oversight, and the minister said funds are already released with projects underway.
