Delhi High Court to Hear Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Plea Against Framing of IRCTC Case Charges on Jan. 5

The challenge targets an October order that moved the IRCTC hotel case to trial on corruption charges.

Overview

  • The petition is listed before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, with Lalu Prasad Yadav seeking to set aside the special court’s October 13 framing order.
  • The Rouse Avenue court had directed trial for cheating, criminal conspiracy and offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav and other accused.
  • Charges include IPC Sections 420 and 120B and PC Act Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d)(ii) and (iii), naming additional accused such as Pradeep Kumar Goel, Rakesh Saksena, and Vinod Kumar Asthana.
  • CBI alleges that between 2004 and 2009 two IRCTC hotels were leased in violation of norms with prime Patna land transferred to entities linked to Lalu Prasad’s family in return.
  • A district judge recently rejected transfer pleas by Rabri Devi, so the prosecutions continue before Special Judge Vishal Gogne at Rouse Avenue Courts.
