Delhi High Court Grants Interim Bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar for Cataract Surgery

The convicted rapist and former BJP MLA is allowed two days of bail to undergo surgery at AIIMS on February 4, with a mandatory surrender on February 5.

  • Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted of raping a minor in 2017 and serving a life sentence, has been granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court for medical reasons.
  • The court has permitted Sengar to undergo cataract surgery at AIIMS on February 4 and ordered him to surrender on February 5.
  • Sengar had previously been granted temporary bails in December 2024 and January 2025 for the same surgery, which was delayed due to unavailability of the operating doctor.
  • He is also serving a 10-year sentence for the custodial death of the minor victim's father, with both convictions currently under appeal in the Delhi High Court.
  • Sengar has been in custody since April 2018 after being convicted by a Tis Hazari Court, with his cases originating from 2018 FIRs filed in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.
