Delhi Hands Munak Canal Elevated Corridor to NHAI for Execution

Overview

• The planned 20-kilometre signal-free road will run along the Munak Canal, linking Inderlok to Bawana in northwest Delhi.
• The project is estimated at about ₹4,700 crore, with the Delhi government funding and NHAI executing the works.
• PWD will manage funding logistics, land clearances, and local coordination, with Haryana giving in-principle nod for border land needs.
• The Detailed Project Report is almost complete, after which tenders are slated to be issued, and NHAI has not commented publicly so far.
• Construction is expected to take roughly three years after award, with officials projecting up to 40% faster travel and relief at junctions such as Mukarba Chowk, plus connectivity to UER-II and the Outer Ring Road.
