• The 21st Delhi International Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament began on June 7 in New Delhi and runs through June 14.
• The Aurionpro International Chess Championship returns to Mumbai from June 16 to 24 after a five-year pause, hosted at the World Trade Centre by the Indian Chess School.
• Mumbai’s event will draw 34 elite competitors, including 19 Grandmasters, 11 International Masters and four Women’s International Masters representing 19 countries.
• Prize funds include Rs 25 lakh for the Grandmasters Open and a record Rs 15 lakh for the Under-13 junior competition, the highest junior purse globally.
• India’s GM Diptayan Ghosh leads the senior field ahead of Georgia’s Levan Pantsulaia and Armenia’s Petrosyan Manuel, while past champions Dommaraju Gukesh and Pranav Venkatesh highlight the tournament’s prestige.
