Delhi Government Links 4.2 Lakh Vocational Students to Industry, Launches Smart Classroom Plan

  • Over 4.2 lakh students in Delhi government schools enrolled in vocational training across trades such as IT, healthcare, retail, electronics and logistics.
  • A placement drive at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Rohini on July 31 connected graduates with representatives from over 30 companies including HCL, Tech Mahindra, Haldiram, Citykart and Navgurukul.
  • Participating employers offered entry-level roles in IT support, retail, customer service and operations to students who completed Class 12 with vocational certification.
  • The Delhi government has allocated Rs 900 crore to equip every Class 9–12 classroom in government schools with AI-powered smart labs, robotics, data science and ICT facilities over the next five years.
  • The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and Prime Minister Modi’s Skill India scheme to bridge gaps between government and private schools and enhance students’ job readiness.
