Delhi Government Clears Rs 1 Crore Aid for Families of 10 Covid-Duty Employees

A new ministerial panel will vet additional cases to clear the long-pending 2020–21 backlog.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the first payments to the 10 families will be released shortly.
  • Each eligible family will receive Rs 1 crore, with further cases under review for approval and disbursal.
  • The panel includes cabinet ministers Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Kumar Singh, assisted by senior officials Neeraj Semwal and Amol Srivastava.
  • The administration says procedures have been simplified to speed assistance and prevent future delays.
  • Gupta criticized the previous government for failing to process promised support for nearly five years and framed the payouts as recognition of frontline service by doctors, nurses, sanitation staff and teachers.
