Delhi Forms Panel to Audit 20 Years of PWD, I&FC Arbitration Awards

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta constituted a high-level committee to examine arbitration awards passed against the government in PWD and I&FC over the past two decades.
  • The panel is chaired by the additional chief secretary, includes the Comptroller and Auditor General as a member, and has the Additional Director General as member secretary.
  • Internal finance teams and Directorate of Audit units will assist in compiling year- and award‑wise data, tallying payments, and evaluating fiscal losses.
  • Departments will first supply case data to start the review, and the Directorate of Audit may deploy additional teams based on volume or complexity.
  • The Anti-Corruption Branch is probing the Barapullah Phase‑III case, where delays led to a ₹120 crore award and a May 2023 High Court-directed payment of ₹175 crore during the previous government.
