Delhi Flags 256 Untraced Dengue Cases as MCD Ramps Up Vector-Disease Response

Incomplete patient addresses are hampering cluster mapping ahead of the September peak.

Overview

  • Delhi has recorded 412 dengue cases as of August 23 with no fatalities, lower than the same period in 2024 and far below 2023.
  • MCD’s weekly report lists 256 dengue infections as untraced, limiting targeted fogging and hotspot identification.
  • Malaria has reached 191 cases this season and has already surpassed last year’s August tally, while chikungunya stands at 32 cases.
  • Most current dengue cases fall under MCD areas (361), with eight in NDMC, 34 in Delhi Cantonment, and nine reported by Railways.
  • The civic body reports over 2.67 crore home inspections, 1.37 lakh breeding-positive houses, 8.79 lakh homes sprayed, nearly 99,000 legal notices, 18,795 prosecutions, and ward-level deployments of about 3,000 DBC workers, 2,000 field staff, and additional hand fogging machines.
