Overview
- Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa directed the DPCC to complete bid evaluations and issue Letters of Award within three months.
- Two CBWTFs will be procured to serve Region 1 (East, North East, Shahdara) and Region 2 (West, South West, Central).
- Feasibility studies citing an unmet load of about 40 metric tonnes a day recommended retiring the Nilothi plant and adding regionally distributed capacity.
- The tenders will follow a 10-year build–own–operate structure, with the National Productivity Council providing technical scrutiny and transparency.
- Daily dashboards will track tender milestones, land readiness, statutory clearances, operator mobilisation and commissioning to avoid service gaps during the Nilothi phase-out.
