Delhi Extends Loudspeaker Cutoff to Midnight for Ramlila, Durga Puja and Dussehra Through Oct. 3

A lieutenant governor–approved order makes permissions contingent on strict noise caps with district clearances required.

Overview

  • Formal permission covers Sept. 22–Oct. 3 and raises the limit from 10 pm to 12 am for specified religious events only.
  • Use of public address systems must comply with Noise Pollution Rules, including a 45 dB(A) night-time cap in residential areas.
  • A generalised order was issued after Lt Governor V. K. Saxena’s approval following the Delhi government’s request.
  • Officials said clearances remain necessary through district authorities, with support via a single-window system and coordination with MCD, PWD, forest and horticulture departments.
  • Resident groups welcomed the facilitation but urged strict enforcement and self-regulation to prevent inconvenience to nearby communities.
