Delhi Excise Busts Fake ‘Luxury Liquor’ Operation at Government-Run Narela Store

Investigators sealed the DSIIDC-run Narela outlet pending chemical tests on seized refilled bottles.

Overview

  • A tip-led raid on Thursday found four store employees allegedly refilling premium bottles with cheap alcohol and water inside the Narela mall vend.
  • Officials seized 106 empty bottles, 39 premium bottles, refilling gear, and a Swift Dzire car believed to be used in the operation.
  • Investigators said used bottles were bought from scrap dealers and fitted with barcodes to pass them off as high-priced liquor.
  • Police registered a case at Narela station, the seized samples were sent for chemical analysis, and DSIIDC was notified for action.
  • Authorities said bottles of brands such as Glenlivet, Black Dog, Chivas Regal, Johnnie Walker Gold Label, Hendrick's Gin and Godawan were being refilled, noting a similar racket was broken up in Punjab last month.
