Overview
- Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa inspected the Lodhi Road installation, which covers 560 metres with 15 poles each hosting 30 nozzles that spray 2.8 litres per hour at 40 bar pressure and was completed for Rs 34 lakh.
- The network is now operational in central Delhi and on DDA-maintained roads in Dwarka, with similar installations under execution at Africa Avenue and Shanti Path.
- Over 25 pollution-prone thoroughfares including Bhagwan Das Road, Tilak Marg, Zakir Hussain Marg and Khan Market are slated for misting deployment in subsequent phases.
- Delhi’s wider anti-pollution strategy includes year-round deployment of 1,000 water sprinklers, 140 anti-smog guns, 200 mechanical road sweepers, 70 electric litter pickers and 38 water tankers monitored via GPS and camera sensors.
- Commercial high-rises above 3,000 sq metres must install rooftop anti-smog guns and AI-driven tools have been introduced to oversee compliance at construction and demolition sites.
