Overview

  • Delhi Jal Board has reduced output at Wazirabad and Chandrawal treatment plants by 25–30% due to insufficient raw water inflow.
  • Water levels at the Wazirabad pond have fallen to 668.70 feet, well below the normal threshold of 674.50 feet required for full treatment capacity.
  • The cutback has removed an estimated 70–100 million gallons per day from the city’s usual 990–1,000 MGD supply, widening the gap against a 1,290 MGD summer demand.
  • Dozens of neighbourhoods, including South Extension, Greater Kailash, Jahangirpuri and NDMC areas, are expected to face low pressure or intermittent shortages.
  • Residents are urged to conserve water and can request DJB tankers via the 1916 helpline as officials have not set a date for supply restoration.
