Overview
- Overall crime under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IPC fell 8.38% year-on-year to 118,822 cases in the first half of 2025.
- Murder incidents edged up 3.73%, rising from 241 to 250 registered cases over the same period.
- Snatching, burglary and motor vehicle theft plunged by 25.97%, 25.4% and 5.98%, respectively, while robberies and kidnappings for ransom fell more than 13% compared to the first half of 2024.
- Rape and POCSO cases declined by about 10%, and molestation and eve-teasing reports dropped by 11% and 12.5%, respectively.
