Delhi Crime Branch Dismantles Counterfeit FMCG Racket, Four Arrested in Major Seizures

Investigators now target the network’s supply chain after company representatives verified the seized goods as counterfeit.

Overview

  • Four men — Nitin Kumar, Rajat Singhal (alias Chintu), Surender Gujjar and Mujahid (alias Kartik) — were caught in Uttam Nagar while receiving consignments on December 29.
  • Police recovered about 1,131 litres of fake ghee, roughly 3,000 kg of spurious iodised salt, 8,640 Eno sachets, 1,200 All Out units and 1,152 Veet packs bearing forged branding.
  • A raid on an illegal ghee unit in the Kanjhawala industrial area yielded packing and sealing machines, forged wrappers and raw materials with no valid licences.
  • Further searches in Nilothi Extension and Nihal Vihar uncovered storage and repacking of counterfeit salt, including around 2,000 kg and machinery such as weighing, sealing and stitching equipment.
  • An FIR was filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the Copyright Act, and the probe now focuses on additional members, warehouses and distribution routes used to sell goods at lower prices.
