Delhi Crime Branch Busts Interstate Fake Ointment Racket, Arrests Two and Seizes Rs 2.3 Crore Stock

Drug inspectors confirmed the seized ointments were counterfeit.

  • Cyber Cell teams raided Teliwara in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar and traced the source to a manufacturing unit in Meerpur Hindu village, Loni, Ghaziabad.
  • Police arrested Gaurav Bhagat and Shree Ram, alias Vishal Gupta, and recovered finished counterfeit stock, raw chemicals, packaging, and manufacturing machinery.
  • The seized items included roughly 1,200 Betnovate‑C tubes, 2,700 Clop‑G tubes, 3,700 Skin‑Shine tubes, about 22,000 empty fake Clop‑G tubes, and over 350 kg of semi‑prepared ointment.
  • An FIR was registered on December 12 under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act after company representatives and regulators verified the counterfeits.
  • Police say further raids are underway to identify wholesalers, distributors, delivery handlers, and retailers linked to the supply chain.
