Delhi Crime Branch Arrests Absconding Serial Offender in NRI Chain-Snatching Case

A tip-off plus surveillance led to his capture in Aman Vihar after seven months on the run.

Overview

Tarun, 24, alias Gadam Wala, was apprehended in Aman Vihar following a November 24 intelligence lead and subsequent technical and manual surveillance.
He was wanted in FIR No. 508/2025 for an April 5 snatching near a PNB ATM on Padam Singh Road that targeted a visiting NRI from California.
Police said he confessed to snatching the chain as the pillion rider, stated the scooter was stolen by associate Rahul, and admitted receiving Rs 6,000 after the jewellery was sold to fund drug use.
Co-accused Rahul had been arrested earlier, with recovery of the black scooter and the approximately 15-gram gold chain.
Tarun has 68 prior criminal cases and had been declared an absconder by a court, with police stating that further investigation is underway.
