Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Leads Cleanliness Drive, Warns Against Wall Defacement

The drives are part of Seva Pakhwada running through October 2.

Overview

  • Gupta joined clean-ups in Shalimar Bagh and along Ring Road, removing posters from a flyover pillar and urging residents to make cleanliness a daily habit.
  • She appealed to political workers not to paste posters, explicitly barring use of her photograph, as Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said action could be taken against offenders.
  • The Public Works Department divided the 55-km Ring Road into eight sections with an engineer-in-charge for each to oversee cleaning and repairs during the fortnight.
  • A Delhi BJP statement said leaders and volunteers cleaned 71 locations, including stretches near ITO, Raja Garden, R.K. Puram and Rajdhani College, with ministers and party workers participating across the city.
  • The Delhi government, with Lt Governor V. K. Saxena’s approval, allowed loudspeakers for festival events until midnight from September 22 to October 3, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged wider participation in the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
