Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Flags Off 40 E-Buses, Opens Revamped Azadpur DTC Terminal

The Azadpur upgrade is the first depot completed under a 2022 DMRC partnership to modernise five sites.

Overview

  • Officials said the terminal can handle 116 buses across 21 routes and includes shaded platforms, modern waiting areas, a baby‑feeding room, lockers, solar panels, CCTV and bio‑digesters.
  • The design allows six buses to halt simultaneously and up to 72 buses per hour during peak demand with five‑minute halts, according to the transport department.
  • The facility connects directly to Azadpur Metro Station via a foot overbridge to support smoother transfers.
  • The 40 new low‑floor electric buses are equipped with air‑conditioning, CCTV cameras, panic buttons and real‑time GPS tracking.
  • Gupta said her government has added 1,400 e‑buses in eight months and accused the previous AAP administration of neglecting pollution and weakening DTC finances, including an alleged undervalued asset sale, claims not independently verified.
