Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Announces New Names for Three Pitampura Metro Stations

The move aims to reflect neighborhood identities for clearer wayfinding.

Overview

  • The current Pitampura station will be renamed Madhuban Chowk, the under‑construction Uttari Pitampura (QU Block) becomes Uttari Pitampura–Prashant Vihar, and the proposed Pitampura North is Haiderpur Village.
  • Two of the three stations are on the Phase 4 RK Puram–Janakpuri West corridor expected to open next year, with Pitampura slated to serve as an interchange with the Red Line.
  • An official cited by Hindustan Times said formal renaming requires approval through the State Names Authority before maps and signage are updated.
  • Gupta also reported progress on surface works, including widening Max Hospital Road and building an underpass to improve safety and traffic flow.
  • Separately, the Delhi Metro said all gates at Lal Qila/Red Fort station are operating again after temporary closures following the November 10 blast.
