Delhi CM Orders Mandatory Dust Controls at Metro Works as DMRC Steps Up Clean-Up Drives

The government is pairing stricter enforcement with new CSR road-maintenance deals and a Ring Road cleaning drive on Saturday.

Overview

  • After a high-level review, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed the DMRC to enforce dust mitigation at all construction sites and warned of surprise inspections and action for negligence.
  • DMRC said it has intensified on-site anti-pollution operations, including a major clean-up between Azadpur and Ashok Vihar that repaired roads and footpaths and verified wheel-wash systems.
  • The corporation reported temporary responsibility for nearly 19 km of city roads, deployment of more than 100 anti-smog guns, and daily environmental inspections to ensure compliance.
  • The Delhi government signed an MoU with GMR to maintain and beautify the Azad Market–Inderlok corridor for three years at about Rs 6 crore, including jet cleaning, drip irrigation, plantation and a solar pump.
  • Additional CSR allocations task IOCL, IGL, Vedanta, Godrej, Dalmia and DLF with specific stretches, and officials announced a Saturday Ring Road cleaning and water-sprinkling drive alongside public appeals to carpool and avoid biomass burning.
