• Rekha Gupta has directed the Anti-Corruption Branch to examine alleged irregularities in the Rs 175 crore court-mandated payment to the Phase-III contractor.
• The probe will investigate possible complicity among PWD officials and why a contractor’s earlier Rs 35 crore settlement offer was ignored.
• Delhi High Court ordered the Rs 175 crore payout in May 2023 after an arbitration tribunal awarded the contractor Rs 120 crore for delays and withheld dues.
• The 6.2-kilometre corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar Phase-III is 87 percent complete but stalled pending environmental clearance for tree removal.
• Gupta has warned that no further delays will be tolerated and assured sufficient budgetary support to finish the project this year.
