Overview
- Delhi’s BJP government completed the 4,000 sq m Narela depot in just 90 days at a cost of ₹2.63 crore.
- The facility includes three bus bays, two high-tech sheds, staff and passenger canteens, medical and water facilities, and EV charging stations.
- The 105 new nine-metre buses are air-conditioned and equipped with panic buttons and real-time monitoring systems to boost passenger safety.
- The depot is set to dispatch 75 e-buses across nine major routes connecting hubs like Old Delhi Railway Station and Uttam Nagar, aligning with EV Policy 2.0’s target of full electrification by 2027.
- AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj criticised the renaming and saffron colouring of the buses as offensive to Hindu sentiments.
