Delhi, Centre Sign MoU to Launch Eco-Friendly Yamuna Cruise-Ferry Corridor

The step advances National Waterway 110 from approval to implementation, with jetties plus vessels now being readied.

  • The Delhi government and the Inland Waterways Authority of India signed an MoU to start a short-distance river cruise and ferry service between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur.
  • Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and Delhi ministers inspected the site and reviewed jetty works, safety systems and passenger amenities.
  • Facilities are planned along a 6–7 km round-trip stretch upstream of the Wazirabad Barrage at an estimated cost of about Rs 20 crore.
