Overview
- The Cabinet meeting on July 8 approved funding for a five-phase digital classroom project set to equip 21,412 Class 9–12 classrooms with smart technology by 2029–30
- Under the first phase, 2,446 smart blackboards will be installed across 75 CM Shri Schools with tenders already in advanced stages
- A dedicated teacher training module was approved to equip educators with skills to integrate smart blackboards and digital pedagogy in classrooms
- The initiative targets underserved localities such as Najafgarh, Narela, Seemapuri, Mahavir Enclave and Kirari to ensure equitable access to digital learning
- This marks a shift from the previous decade’s reliance on just 799 CSR-funded smart blackboards and reflects a renewed infrastructure priority under NEP 2020
