Overview
- The Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025, has been approved by the Cabinet and will be introduced in a special Assembly session on May 13-14.
- The bill applies to all 1,677 private schools in Delhi and introduces a multi-tier system involving parents, school managements, and authorities for transparent fee regulation.
- Steep penalties, including cancellation of school registration, are proposed for unauthorized fee hikes or harassment of students over fees.
- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood assured parents of direct access to their offices for grievances related to fee exploitation.
- The government is also establishing 65 high-quality ‘CM Shri’ schools to provide affordable public education alternatives to private institutions.
