Delhi Cabinet Clears Realignment to 13 Revenue Districts, Creating Old Delhi and Central North

The overhaul aligns revenue boundaries with civic bodies to end jurisdictional overlaps.

Overview

  • The Cabinet approved reorganising 11 revenue districts into 13 that are co-terminus with MCD zones, NDMC and the Delhi Cantonment Board.
  • Two new districts—Old Delhi and Central North—were announced, with Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazaar placed in Old Delhi and Model Town assigned to Central North.
  • The government said a Gazette notification will be issued within 15 days, with full operationalisation targeted for December 2025.
  • Subdivisions will rise from 33 to 39 and Sub-Registrar offices from 22 to 39 to accelerate service delivery and property registration.
  • An initial Rs 25 crore has been allocated this year, and multi-departmental Mini Secretariats will be established across all 13 districts for one-stop public services.
