  • Cabinet cleared amendments to the 1954 Delhi Shops and Establishments Act to lift bans on women working between 9 pm–7 am in summer and 8 pm–8 am in winter
  • The proposal has been forwarded to the lieutenant governor for formal approval and gazette notification
  • Employers must obtain written consent from female staff before assigning any night-shift duties
  • All establishments will be required to provide secure transportation, round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, female security personnel, basic amenities and POSH internal complaints committees
  • Night-shift workers must receive electronic wage transfers, full statutory benefits, weekly offs and overtime compensation
