Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta signed off on the Mukhyamantri Digital Shiksha Yojana in a July 22 Cabinet meeting.
  • A budget of Rs 7.5 crore has been allocated to provide free i7 laptops to 1,200 government school students based on top Class 10 board exam scores, with the first distributions due in the 2025-26 academic year and annual renewals thereafter.
  • The Delhi government has earmarked Rs 50 crore for digital infrastructure, launching 175 ICT labs in 2025-26 and a further 175 in 2026-27, each equipped with 40 desktop computers and related resources.
  • The initial ICT lab phase targets 544 schools across 350 buildings, prioritising sites with morning and evening shifts sharing the same premises.
  • The initiative is anchored in NEP 2020 guidelines and seeks to remedy long-standing non-functional computer labs from earlier Sarva Siksha Abhiyan efforts.
