Delhi Assembly Sets All-India Speakers’ Conference for August 24–25

From archival exhibitions to documentary screenings, the conference explores artificial intelligence’s role in legislative transparency.

Overview

  • The conference will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will unveil an exhibition of archival documents, photographs and verbatim records from the Assembly’s century-old sessions.
  • A specially commissioned documentary will chronicle freedom-era milestones including Bhagat Singh’s Assembly bombing in 1929 and Mahatma Gandhi’s protests against the Simon Commission.
  • Thirty-two Speakers and Deputy Speakers of state assemblies, along with chairmen and deputy chairmen of state legislative councils, have confirmed their attendance.
  • Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia will release a commemorative postage stamp at the inaugural session, with 125 liaison officers appointed to host state guests.
  • The programme includes thematic panels on Vitthalbhai Patel’s role in framing India’s Constitution and on how artificial intelligence can enhance accountability and trust in governance.
