Delhi AQI Hits 391 as Fog Traps Pollution With 20 Stations Over 400

Low wind with dense fog is trapping emissions, keeping Delhi under GRAP Stage III curbs.

Overview

  • Official CPCB data showed an overall AQI of about 391 on Sunday morning after levels climbed through Saturday evening.
  • At least 19–20 of 40 monitoring sites registered “severe” readings, including Anand Vihar 445, Shadipur 443, Jahangirpuri 430 and Wazirpur 443.
  • Authorities maintained GRAP Stage III measures following the midweek rollback of Stage IV, with enforcement such as the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule in effect.
  • IGI Airport and carriers issued visibility advisories as dense smog reduced clarity in parts of Delhi, with operations adjusted as conditions fluctuated.
  • Forecasts from AQEWS, IMD and IITM indicate several days of very poor air due to weak dispersion, and DSS modelling estimated transport contributed about 16.2% of the PM2.5 load.
