Overview

• Starting next month and running until March 31, 2026, the DJB will waive late payment surcharges for domestic users and government establishments, with commercial consumers excluded pending a decision.
• The minister said a 100% LPSC waiver will be available until January, followed by a 70% waiver during an extension through March.
• Compounding interest on pending bills has been permanently reduced to 2% per billing cycle from 5% to prevent future bill escalation.
• Total outstanding dues stand at ₹87,589 crore, including ₹80,463 crore in surcharges; domestic arrears total ₹16,068 crore with ₹11,069 crore as LPSC.
• DJB will hold facilitation camps and has slashed regularization fees for unauthorized connections to ₹1,000 for domestic users and ₹5,000 for non-domestic users to boost compliance.
