Delhi Announces Renaming of Three Pitampura Metro Stations

The move is framed as a wayfinding upgrade that still requires State Names Authority clearance.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled new names: Pitampura will be Madhuban Chowk, North Pitampura (QU Block) will be North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar, and the proposed Pitampura North will be Haiderpur Village.
  • One station is already operational on the Red Line, while two are under construction as part of the RK PuramJanakpuri corridor in Delhi Metro’s Phase 4.
  • Madhuban Chowk is slated to function as an interchange once the RK PuramJanakpuri section opens, which reporting says is expected next year.
  • Officials note the renaming process needs approval through the State Names Authority before DMRC implements changes to signage and maps.
  • Gupta announced the decision at a Kalash Yatra event in Haiderpur and highlighted parallel upgrades, including Max Hospital Road widening and a new underpass.
